Hauoli la Hanau, e Sweetheart!

Jacque’s 49th birthday. Hauoli la hanau, darling. Today’s agenda: open presents, followed by breakfast in bed (blueberry pancakes), lunch @ Stuart Anderson’s in Waimalu, then a movie at Pearlridge, then a Hip-hop ab workout at home (Jacque not me). God bless my wife!

May you have at least 49 more!

To the Temple and to the Polls

11/4/08 Election Day.

Before heading to the polls, we attended an 8 a.m. session in the Laie Temple. A wonderful experience, as always.

Back home in Kaneohe, we voted for McCain but in the end, Hawaii resident Barrack Obama prevailed. Nonetheless, we believe in "being subjects to the leaders of our country in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.” We pray for blessings on President Obama.

OYM!

We arose at 4:30  to get dressed to attend the 6 a.m. session at temple.  Wonderful 45-minute drive to Laie.  There is something beautiful about cruising along the windward Oahu coast in the early-morning.  This is one of our favorite things to do.  In what may be a surprise to some, the temple is (reverently) abuzz, even at 5:30 in the morning.  The 6 ayem session is often filled to capacity (~40).

As we often do, we stop at McDonald's to pick up some take-out breakfast afterward.

Elders Lords and Wedon stopped by in the pm.  They challenged us to OYM to share the Gospel with others.  See DC 35:12.  We will work on this challenge!

We thank thee o God for a Prophet!

While I attended a stake priesthood meeting in the evening, we received word that President Gordon B. Hinckley passed away.  We are saddened with the loss of a man we love.  We testify that he is a prophet of God.

During the meeting, we sang another of my favorite hymns, with the spirit being especially strong as we did.

Indeed, we thank thee o God for a Prophet to guide us in these latter days.

Date night 1/23/08

Wednesday nights are our date nights and for this one we went to Restaurant Row Theaters to see Dustin Hoffman in Magorium's Wonder Emporium.  Jacque loves movies like this while I am usually less enthusiastic.  I will admit though, that this one was better than expected.  And the company was A-1!
