Tonight, Kamehameha beat Iolani for the state high school boys basketball championship.  Thirty-five years ago (1976), Dayle and his teammates won the same championship, beating Maryknoll, 46-39.  That was many years (and many pounds!) ago!

As a senior at the University of Hawaii in 1983, Dayle wrote a story about that 1976 Kamehameha basketball championship team titled Children and Champions.

For our family...

We had a not-so-good start to the day yesterday with silence followed by harsh words.  Then we came together in a seemingly unexpected way:  we went to the temple.

Jacque told she prayed and received an inspiration to go to the temple.  I'm glad she prayed!

Laie Temple
After the endowment session (she proxied for her grandma and I for Jacque's brother Danny), we did some sealings for other family members, including my grandparents, Jacque's grandparents and sealings for children to their parents (including my grandma to her parents).

It felt wonderful to do this work with Jacque.

We have committed to going to the temple more often and do more work together.

Valentine's Day 2011

By tradition, we celebrate Valentine's Day at Red Lobster in Waikiki. The thing we have to remember about RLW is that there are no reservations; everything is walk-in. Usually, this isn't a problem but on Valentine's Day it is a problem, which Jacque helped us circumvent with her magic.

Today, we had no problem with lines because we celebrated V-Day @ RLW in the mid-afternoon instead of during the evening crush time. As a result, no lines, no crowd. Wonderful meal (Admiral's Feast, see above). Wonderful company!

Happy Valentine's Day, Sweetheart! I love you.
