Welcome Dad!

Today, we picked up Dad from Queen's Medical Center where he had been admitted a couple weeks ago because of a very serious UTI.  His health had improved to the point that it was time for him to be released from the hospital.  And there was no way that he was going back to Hale Nani.

@ Hale Nani
So today he came home with us.

Dad loves to read (and fold!) the newspaper
We have been in the process of building an extra room onto our house but that is still in progress so in the meantime, dad would stay in our cleared-out dining room, in a hospital bed that Jacque had acquired from a healthcare equipment rental company.

We discussed hiring caregivers to look after Dad but for the most part, we would be the caregivers. With her current job and with past jobs and training, Jacque had lots of experience and knowledge as a caregiver.  For me, it would be intensive on-the-job training.

The Menascos are here!

Sam and Amber Menasco arrived from Samoa today and will be staying with us for a few days.

Sam, who we know as Elder Menasco, was a missionary here back in 2006 when Jacque and I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He and his companion Michael Webber were instrumental in helping us understand that the LDS church is THE church.

Sam has since graduated from BYU and married his sweetheart Amber.

It is our pleasure to be hosting them for a brief stay.
