Endowments received

Jacque and I received our endowments this evening at the Laie Hawaii Temple. We were blessed to receive our endowments and are grateful to be able to go to the temple to worship and to do work for our kindred dead.

Prior to entering the temple, we had to be interviewed to determine our worthiness by the Bishop of our Ward (Matthew Corry) and the stake president (George Kaluhiokalani).  As a result of a positive outcome of these interviews, we received a temple recommend which we must present in order to enter the temple.

We led a hike--Ulupaina--for the Hawaiian Trail and Mountain Club today.  Ulupaina is on the windward side of Oahu by Kahaluu/Temple Valley.

An excellent write-up about the Ulupaina hike  (pdf doc) was done by club member Richard Bailey.

Thanks, Richard!

New Year 2007

Jacque and I had family prayer together this morning.  All family members have a standing invitation to join us for prayer though most times it is just Jacque and me.

We also had scripture study, today being Matthew 4:1-11 which was about Jesus being tempted by Satan three times.

Jacque and I also renewed our vows to each other today.  We opened with a prayer, read vows to each other and had Grandma Turner read some vows to us which we agreed upon.  We then said a closing prayer.

To commemorate the ceremony, Jacque and I planted a papaya tree and an avocado tree in our lower yard in the far corner bordering the Mizuno property.  We pray that the nourishment and growth of these trees be steady and strong while our marriage our marriage grows steadily and strongly, too.  Amen.
