The funeral for my father, Charles Turner, was today.
The thing about funerals is that people have opportunities to see other people who they may not have seen for quite some time. Funerals have a way of bringing people together.
I learned a lot today. Part of the services today included a slide show with lots of pictures of my dad and his family and friends throughout his life. I learned a lot about his other family. In fact, if an observer were take a reckoning of my dad's life on the slide show, that observer might conclude that his other family was a more significant part of Charles Turner than the family I knew of, which included my mom and my brothers and sisters.
I wish I had taken it upon myself to know my dad better in this life, but I trust that I will.
