We hosted Elders Cottle and Carter for dinner tonight. Glad to have them and grateful for their service in this part of the Lord's vineyard.

Kawaewae HTMC 2/11/12

Jacque and I coordinated the Kawaewae hike for the Hawaiian Trail and Mountain Club today.  Twenty folks joined us including longtime club members Jason Sunada, Wil Kawano, Janice Nako-Piburn, and Larry Lee.

There was some voginess but the conditions/weather for the hike was optimal, with cool breezes and high overcast skies.

The route was well-cleared by the club's  trail maintenance crew.  Mahalo to them.

Afterward, we rewarded ourselves with treats from McDonald's.  In an word, ono!

Better late than...

Jacque had a brunch meeting at New Eagle Cafe with a rep for the local Teamster's Union this morning (Jacque is the shop steward for the support staff (techs and aides) at the Queen's Medical Center Emergency Department.

She got to her meeting on time but the same could not be said for me about getting to my 10 a.m. class at Leeward Community College.  But I had called ahead and a message was posted by my department secretary noting my late arrival.

Despite my tardiness, we had a good class today and Jacque had a good meeting the Teamster rep.

Where are the ribbons?

This afternoon, we went to do a re-check on the Kawaewae Trail in preparation for this Saturday's HTMC club hike.  Entering from Lipalu Street, we were chagrined to find out that some of the ribbons we put up this past Saturday were torn down.  So, it was re-ribboning time.  Mission accomplished.

Not sure who tore the ribbons down.  They have their reasons.

Kawaewae trail check

We hiked this trail today, starting from Friendship Garden on Kokokahi Place. Our mission was to check the route prior to next Saturday's HTMC hike which we'll lead. All went well and we'll recheck the trail in the coming week to make sure it is well marked.
